Martin Scorsese To Release George Harrison Documentary

Martin Scorsese is to return to the music world again as he releases a documentary about the life of George Harrison.

The documentary includes previously unseen private letters, home movie footage and personal stories of George Harrison as told by close friends including Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr. Scorsese has blended the music and film worlds together before with his Bob Dylan study, No Direction Home and Rolling Stones documentary, Shine A Light. The documentary also includes a heart-felt interview from Ringo Starr who recalls the last time he spoke to his friend Harrison just before he died. The documentary also deals with the women in the former Beatles life including the love triangle between Eric Clapton, his first wife and model Pattie Boyd and himself.

George Harrison was born in Liverpool, England in 1943. He was to become a member of the legendary Beatles after being asked to join by school friend Paul Mccartney. During his time with the band he embraced Indian culture and eventually became a Hindu and also learned to play Indian instruments such as the sitar. Although he wrote some of the songs that featured on various Beatles’ albums it was not until the band broke up that he was allowed to express himself and went on to release 17 solo albums throughout his career. He died of lung cancer in 2001.

Josh Duhamel Raises 1M For Flooded Hometown

Josh Duhamel Raises 1M For Flooded Hometown

Josh Duhamel and the Black Eyed Peas raised $1 million for his flood-ravaged hometown.

The actor organised a benefit concert headlined by his wife Fergie’s group in Minot, North Dakota, on Saturday (03.09.11) to help rebuild the city after severe flooding damaged over 4,000 homes and made 11,000 residents flee their properties.

The ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ star – who met with flood victims and visited a Red Cross shelter over the Labor Day weekend -was personally affected by the natural disaster as his childhood home and the house where his sister lives with her family were damaged.

A sold-out crowd of 12,000 fans – who each paid $100 for a ticket – attended the ‘Minot Rising’ show, which was held at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds, and Fergie paid tribute to residents for their bravery in the face of adversity.

On stage she shouted: “This is a beautiful, beautiful vision for us, especially for me because I have family here now … It might be small, but it has the biggest heart in America. North Dakota, we love you so much!”

The singer’s bandmate will.i.am took to his twitter page to praise Josh for organising the event and reveal the sum raised.

He tweeted: “@joshduhamel thank you for you passion, determination, and vision to do good, and ability to bring people together for a good cause … Bep had a concert in n dakota & raised 1million dollars for Minot flood recovery (sic)”

Josh, 38, also posted a message on the micro-blogging website thanking the Black Eyed Peas for performing.

He tweeted: “A HUGE thank you to @iamwill, @TabBep, @apl_de & #Fergie for their incredible act of kindness for doing #MinotRising. North Dakota loves you. (sic)”

All proceeds raised from the concert will go to flood victims and the rebuilding effort.

Angelina Jolie Takes Kids To See Smurfs

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took their children to see ‘The Smurfs 3D’ yesterday (04.09.11).

The couple and Maddox, 10, Pax, seven, Zahara, six, Shiloh, five, and three-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne visited the Odeon cinema in Richmond, south west London, to watch the animated film starring Katy Perry and Neil Patrick Harris.

It is the third time the family have paid a visit to the cinema, having watched Jim Carrey in ‘Mr. Popper’s Penguins’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2′.

Meanwhile, Angelina and Brad are said to have enrolled some of their kids at a London primary school because his new movie ‘World War Z’, which has been shooting in Cornwall, Scotland and the British capital, has over-run.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “The children are home tutored in the United States. But wherever possible Brad and Angelina like to have them attend local schools to introduce them to the culture of each country.”

Despite spending most of their time in their homes in the US, France and Italy, the Jolie-Pitt family have been enjoying their time in the UK, and last week Angelina enjoyed a shopping spree on London’s famous King’s Road.

An onlooker at the French Connection store – where she spent £1,300 in 15 minutes – said: “She was really friendly and humble. She signed an autograph for some young girls in the shop, and wouldn’t let any of the staff help her to the car with her bags, joking that she ‘had people to do that’ for her.”

Al Pacino Admits Directing Is His Greatest Love

Al Pacino has admitted that his true love in Hollywood is found behind the camera rather than in front of it.

Speaking to UK newspaper The Telegraph the legendary actor said “Once I started, the magic of movies came into my life, I fell in love with the idea of making a movie.” Though the well-practiced star does not profess to being one of the best ‘I always feel like a dilettante making movies, because I know great directors and I’m not that’.

The 71-year-old actor who this week received the Jaeger LeCoultre Glory award at the 2011 Venice Film Festival was speaking ahead of the release of his latest movie, Wilde Salome which is a reinterpretation of Oscar Wilde’s controversial work Salome, a story of lust and greed. Pacino is also a lifelong fan of Wilde and described how important the writer was to him “Oscar Wilde was a great writer – a genius, if you will, who was taken out before his time. We know from his writing that he was a very liberal thinker and a visionary in terms of his feeling for people and how he wanted society to be more humane.” The New York native received a warm reception from the crowds as he appeared in Italy this week.

The Hollywood A-lister began his career in 1969 and achieved international fame after starring as Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s epic 1972 mafia movie The Godfather. He has also starred in Dog Day Afternoon and crime thriller Serpico. The actor has also been nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning one for best actor in 1992 movie Scent of a Woman.

Colin Firth Says Studios Understimate Audience Intelligence

Colin Firth believes film makers are not giving audiences enough intelligent and thought provoking movies.

According to the Guardian the British actor said “I do think there is a tendency to underestimate audiences, I do think there is an appetite to be stretched.” Speaking at this years (2011) Venice Film Festival where his latest movie the Cold War thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is premiering he also went on to say “I do think people want to hear language at its best on the screen. I’m optimistic about it having an enormous audience.” Set in the 1970s the movie tells the story of George Smiley, played by Gary Oldman, who is a spy that comes out of semi-retirement to catch a Russian spy. It is based on the classic novel by John Le Carre first published in 1974. Director TOMAS ALFREDSON also spoke about the hardships in turning such a complex novel into a movie “We agreed that this was probably a totally impossible book to turn into a feature film, that it was almost blasphemous to try to introduce anyone else other than Alec Guinness as George Smiley.”

Firth was born in Hampshire and began his career by appearing in a series of plays and TV movies until gaining notable success in the 1995 adaption of Pride and Prejudice. He later appeared in the English Patient as well as romantic comedy Shakespeare in Love. He is also the star of recent box office hit The King’s Speech in which he played King George VI. He is also currently filming new movie Gambit alongside Cameron Diaz which is due for release in 2012.

Gerard Butler In Tears Over New Film Character

Scottish actor Gerard Butler is struggling with his emotions as he promotes new movie Machine Gun Preacher – because he finds it hard not to weep during interviews.

The 300 star plays real-life Sudan hero Sam Childers in the film and admits it’s becoming difficult for him to recall the time spent on the set of the film in South Africa without crying.

Sobbing during a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, he explains, “This happened to me a lot when we were filming. I would just be overcome. I feel every emotion. I haven’t talked much about this movie in a while, and I did the other day, and I just started crying. I cried for about five minutes.”

Childers transformed his drug-riddled, crime-filled life after finding God and founding an orphanage in war-torn Sudan in 1998.

Butler adds, “A lot of the feelings I felt with Sam, the violence and the craziness, being out of control and not knowing how to live your life, I had all that. Did I go around stabbing people and shooting people? No. Did I end up in Africa building an orphanage? No. But I did have a massive transformation in my life where I sorted everything out.”

Pink bought the property in 2002, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Jay-Z Refused To Clap For Chris Brown’s VMAs Performance (Photo)

During last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, Chris Brown was said to have put on quite the show. So much, in fact, people were left commenting about how good it was. Celebrities in attendance, stood and clapped for the often troubled singer. With one exception, of course.

As Kanye West and others stood up and clapped, Jay-Z was sitting tight, looking bored. After all, Jay is probably still holding a grudge against Chris for what he did to Rihanna. He discovered Rihanna, so it stands to reason that he’s still holding on to a beef with him.

Either that, or he’s busy with babies on the brain. Beyonce announced her pregnancy on the red carpet at the event and even showed off her baby bump!

What do you think of the situation? Is Jay still not feeling any reason to be nice to Chris Brown, no matter how many times he moonwalks on the stage? Sound off in the comments!
